Wait, what?

Emo-kid.net was my old website. Unfortunately, I lost the domain when I didn't renew it in time and the company wouldn't sell it back to me. But that's besides the point. It was quite popular back in the day when "emo" started becoming a mainstream term. I wasn't quite familiar with the process of search engines at the time, but apparently if you Googled the term "emo-kid," my forums and website came up pretty early in the results.

So with this newfound success, I wanted to share my love of the culture and music that I grew up with throughout high school - that is, not "real" emo like Jawbreaker or Sunny Day Real Estate, but the second generation of the explosion: Nights where we'd stay up watching Dashboard Confessional Unplugged, making mixtapes for our crushes, and writing in our LiveJournals about how the stars in the sky just make us feel so darn small.

This webcomic is about me and my life during these times, albeit a bit exaggerated for comic effect. I hope you find it somewhat humorous. Enjoy!

Emo-kid.net: The Comic

Characters

JakeJake was such an emo kid. He hung out with his main man Mark a lot and was constantly trying to get him to admit he's emo as well. Jake's favorite band was Dashboard Confessional and he was extremely lucky to have someone like me in his life.
MarkMark wanted to be hardcore so bad - he even spiked his hair to make himself look cooler. Everyone at school hated him and his only friend was an emo kid named Jake, and possibly Allison. In his spare time he stalked hardcore kids to see what they do and wrote in his journal about how hard his life sucks. Geez what an emo kid.
BlinkBlink is my hot beast of a dog. He was also the mascot of emo-kid.net, so of course he had to make some appearances in the comic. He was mostly there to eat or hump something. Good times with Blink.
MeI made some appearances in the comic. Sorta. I promise you I don't strip nor was I ever pregnant. Still, it was fun putting myself in there. I mean, you know you're pretty conceited when you center a storyline around yourself. (No offense, Mall Monkeys.)
RandiYeah...it's my sister Randi. I don't think she even knew was emo was back when I made this, but it was still pretty funny to pretend she hated it.
AllisonMy friend Allison made a few appearances as well. She wanted to be put in the comic as Mark's crush so I figured what the heck, I'd do it. She was into girl punk at the time and wore skirts that my grandma would approve of.
SamSam had a whole story line going on for him but ended up only making a few appearances after we "broke up". He took Jake's place awhile, which didn't correspond to the amount of time I had to make a comic in real life. So there's a little resentment there.
