Hello! I'm Candi and I make retro modern underground commercial trashy classy art. Now that we've established my branding, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I fell into the field of graphic design by being involved with local music. My dream in life was always to be the lead in some sort of genre-defying band, but I quickly learned that playing music isn't quite my forte and that I should stay on the sidelines. Those sidelines happened to be in the area of music promotion. I had been playing around with basic web design since age 12, and I first put my hobby to use in high school by creating websites for local bands. The occasional website grew into the weekly flyer, and pretty soon all of my friends and their friends were asking me to design something to spread the word about their band's next show.
I didn't think drawing and playing around in Photoshop could turn into a career until my graduating class voted me "Most Artistic." There were better artists at my school, and certainly more well-known ones, but everyone said they voted for me because I was always customizing everything - my clothes, my papers, my folders, my shoes, and any other blank canvas you can think of. I began winning ribbons in county art shows, and my teachers even took notice of my passion and asked me to design official school t-shirts.
After high school, I attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Digital Arts and Design, (which is a fancy way of saying Digital Media.) I was qualified for entrance into more prestigious universities with my 4.3 GPA, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded people who would push my creative boundaries.
I really hate it when designers create cliche biographies about how they've always loved art and how they feel like they can change the world with it or something. I'm just trying to have fun. If you want to know more, click right here.
